Shopify development for food and beverage brands
Online stores for coffee roasters, bakeries, snack brands and drinks producers, built for perishables, delivery slots, subscriptions and clear ingredient information.
Shopify development for Food & Drink brands
Selling food and drink online is a logistics business as much as a marketing one. Products have shelf lives, some need chilled packaging, and a late parcel can mean a bin full of spoiled stock and a refund. Shoppers want to see ingredients and allergens before they buy, choose a delivery day that suits them, and reorder favourites without hunting through the menu again every week.
BOOST STAR Experts builds Shopify stores for coffee roasters, artisan bakers, snack and confectionery brands, sauce makers and drinks producers. We set up delivery calendars and postcode zones, subscription programmes, age checks for alcohol and product pages that put ingredient and nutrition information where shoppers look for it. Working remotely from India, we pair the build with SEO, email and paid social so repeat orders grow over time.

- Subscribe-and-save plans
- Allergen & nutrition tabs

What makes Food & Drink eCommerce hard
Perishables and delivery timing
Fresh bread, cheese, meat and chilled desserts cannot sit in a depot over a weekend. Stores need dispatch-day rules, cut-off times, blackout dates and delivery-date pickers so orders only ship when they can arrive fresh. Getting this wrong leads to spoiled parcels, refunds and one-star reviews about warm boxes.
Ingredient, allergen and labelling information
Shoppers with allergies or dietary needs check ingredients before they buy, and in the UK and EU food law requires the mandatory label information, apart from the best-before or use-by date, to be available before an online purchase is completed. Keeping that information accurate across hundreds of products and recipe changes is hard without structured product data.
Local delivery, collection and national shipping
Many food businesses deliver in their own vans within a few miles, offer shop collection and also post shelf-stable items nationwide. Each method has different products, minimum orders and time slots. A standard checkout that offers every option for every product confuses customers and creates orders the business cannot actually fulfil.
Low order values and repeat purchase
A bag of coffee or a jar of sauce rarely covers the cost of packaging and postage on its own. Food brands need bundles, free-shipping thresholds and subscriptions to lift basket size, plus a reorder experience simple enough that customers come back every few weeks instead of drifting to the supermarket.
Our approach for Food & Drink stores
Store design
Appetising photography, origin and producer stories, and navigation by meal, occasion or dietary need. We make delivery areas, next available delivery day and minimum order values visible from the header, so shoppers know before browsing whether you can reach them and when their order would arrive.
Product pages
Structured fields for ingredients, allergens, nutrition per 100 g, storage instructions, shelf life and serving suggestions, displayed in consistent tabs. Coffee pages show roast level, tasting notes and grind options; drinks pages show ABV and volume. Subscribe-and-save and bundle offers sit next to the add-to-cart button.
Collections & search
Filters for vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, organic and halal where your range carries those claims, plus collections by occasion such as hampers, breakfast or party boxes. Search recognises ingredients and flavours, so “oat milk”, “chilli” or “decaf” returns the right products.
SEO
Category pages for searches like “artisan coffee beans” or “gluten-free brownies delivered”, recipe content linked to the products used, and product schema with reviews. Local delivery pages describe the areas you genuinely serve, helping you appear for nearby searches without empty doorway pages.
Conversion (CRO)
Delivery-date pickers in the cart, free-shipping progress bars, mix-and-match boxes and a quick reorder button in customer accounts. We test the order of shipping options and subscription messaging, and make sure chilled delivery charges are explained early rather than appearing as a checkout surprise.
Marketing & retention
Klaviyo flows timed to how fast products are consumed, seasonal campaigns for Christmas hampers, Easter and summer barbecues, and subscriber perks such as early access to limited batches. Meta ads use recipe and serving creative, while Google Shopping covers high-intent product searches.

Frequently asked questions
Can customers choose a delivery date or time slot?
Yes. We add a delivery-date picker to the cart or checkout that respects your dispatch days, cut-off times, bank holidays and capacity per slot. Chilled products can be restricted to delivery days that avoid weekend stays in a depot, and the chosen date is passed to your fulfilment team with the order.
How do you handle local delivery alongside national shipping?
Shopify supports local delivery by postcode or radius and shop pickup natively, and we extend it with an app where you need time slots or product rules. Fresh items can be limited to local delivery while shelf-stable products ship nationwide, so checkout only offers methods that suit what is in the basket.
Can you set up coffee or snack subscriptions?
Yes. We build subscriptions with an app such as Recharge, offering frequency choices, skip and swap options and a discount for subscribing. Customers manage everything from their account, and Klaviyo flows remind them before the next charge and suggest new products they might add.
Where should allergen and ingredient information go?
We store it in structured product fields, called metafields, and show it in a consistent place on every product page, usually a clearly labelled tab near the price. That keeps it easy to update when recipes change. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the information; we make sure it is displayed clearly.
Can we sell alcohol on our Shopify store?
Shopify permits alcohol sales where you hold the licences required in your market. We can add an age confirmation step on entry or at checkout and restrict shipping to regions you are allowed to serve. Some carriers have their own rules for alcohol, so we check your shipping setup against them before launch.
