Shopify experts for Brazil brands

Brazil is Latin America’s largest eCommerce market and one of its most demanding. Shoppers pay instantly with Pix, split card purchases into interest-free parcelas, and compare every price against Mercado Livre, Shopee and Amazon. Social commerce through Instagram and WhatsApp is everywhere, and a strong D2C scene in fashion, beauty, supplements and footwear has grown up around it. Tax and invoicing rules add complexity that a store has to be built around from day one.

BOOST STAR Experts builds and grows Shopify stores for Brazilian brands and for international brands entering Brazil. We connect local gateways for Pix, boleto and instalments, shipping calculators for Correios and private carriers and the apps that issue electronic invoices. Then we focus on SEO in Portuguese, Meta and Google campaigns and conversion work aimed at reducing abandoned checkouts.

Selling online in Brazil: what your store needs

Pix, boleto and parcelamento

Pix, the central bank’s instant payment system, is now the most common way to pay online, often with a small discount for paying by Pix. Credit cards matter for higher-value orders because shoppers expect to pay in interest-free instalments. Boleto bancário is still used by people without cards. Gateways such as Mercado Pago, PagBank and Pagar.me handle all three on Shopify.

Nota fiscal and a complex tax system

Every sale needs an electronic invoice (NF-e), and taxes such as ICMS vary by state and product. A reform replacing several of these with a dual VAT (CBS and IBS) is being phased in from 2026. Checkouts collect the buyer’s CPF or CNPJ. Stores must also follow the LGPD privacy law and the Consumer Defence Code’s 7-day right of withdrawal.

Freight across a continent

Delivery times and costs vary hugely between the South-East and the North. Correios, with SEDEX and PAC, reaches everywhere, while Jadlog, Loggi and Total Express compete in big cities. Shoppers expect to enter their CEP on the product page and see a freight quote, so we connect calculators such as Melhor Envio or Frenet early in a build.

Marketplaces and social selling

Mercado Livre is the reference point for prices and reviews, and many brands sell there as well as direct. Shoppers ask questions on WhatsApp before buying and discover products on Instagram and TikTok. A brand store wins by offering exclusive kits, loyalty cashback, fast replies and a clear exchange policy, which Brazilians check closely for fashion and footwear.

Frequently asked questions

Can Shopify accept Pix and parcelamento in Brazil?

Yes, through local gateways. Mercado Pago, PagBank, Pagar.me and similar providers have Shopify integrations that add Pix with a QR code, boleto and card payments in instalments. We compare their fees and features with you, set up interest-free instalment rules and show the instalment price on product pages.

How do you handle nota fiscal on Shopify?

We connect an invoicing app or your ERP, such as Bling or Tiny, which issues the NF-e automatically when an order is paid and sends it to the customer. Tax rules and codes come from your accountant; we make sure products carry the right data, such as NCM codes, so invoices are generated without manual work.

Can customers see freight costs before checkout?

Yes. We add a CEP calculator to product pages and cart that pulls live quotes from Correios and private carriers through Melhor Envio, Frenet or a similar service. Shoppers see delivery time and price for each option, which cuts the number of people who abandon at checkout over freight surprises.

Should we sell on Mercado Livre as well as our own store?

Often, yes, especially for discovery. We connect Shopify to Mercado Livre with an integration that syncs products, stock and orders. Your own store then focuses on margin and loyalty through kits, cashback, exclusive colours and a better exchange experience than a marketplace can offer.

How does a team in India work with Brazilian hours?

Your morning is our evening, so we keep a fixed call window then and work through the rest of our day while you are offline. Most communication happens on a shared board and chat, and launches are scheduled so our team is online during your peak selling hours.
