Shopify SEO that works with how Shopify is built
We fix the parts of Shopify that hold rankings back, from duplicate product URLs to thin collection pages, and do the theme work ourselves instead of handing you a list.
Shopify SEO: what it covers
Shopify gives every store a solid base: a generated sitemap.xml, editable title tags, HTTPS and fast hosting. It also brings fixed habits that matter for search. Products sit under /products/, categories under /collections/, and many themes link to products through a collection path such as /collections/sale/products/linen-shirt, which creates a second URL for the same item. Tag filters, paginated collections and app-generated pages add more URLs that Google has to sort through before it reaches the pages you want ranked.
BOOST STAR Experts is a Shopify Partner agency, so our SEO work includes the theme and Liquid changes that most SEO providers can only recommend. We clean up internal links so they point to canonical product URLs, write collection copy that targets real category searches, add product and breadcrumb structured data, and trim app scripts that slow the storefront. The team works remotely from India with brands worldwide, holds calls in your business hours and sends written updates every week through a named project lead.
- Canonical product URL cleanup in the theme
- Collection page titles, copy and structure
- Product, Offer and breadcrumb structured data
- robots.txt.liquid and sitemap review
- App script and theme speed review
- Redirects for changed handles and old URLs
What Shopify SEO has to get right
Duplicate product URLs
Many Shopify themes link to products through collection paths, so one product can be reached at several addresses. Shopify adds a canonical tag pointing to the /products/ URL, but internal links still send crawlers and link signals to the duplicates. Updating the theme so links use the canonical path keeps crawling focused and signals consistent.
Thin collection pages
Collection pages are often the best match for category searches, yet many stores leave them as a grid of products with a heading and nothing else. Without a short introduction, useful filters, a clear title tag and links to related collections, Google has little to tell it what the page is for or why it deserves to rank.
Apps that add weight and URLs
Each installed app can inject scripts on every page, and some create their own indexable pages. Apps that were uninstalled often leave code behind in the theme. Over time this slows the storefront, hurts Core Web Vitals and fills the index with pages that were never meant to rank.
Our Shopify SEO services
Theme and Liquid fixes
We edit the theme so product links, pagination and filters produce clean URLs, and we keep changes in a duplicate theme for your review before publishing.
Collection architecture
We plan parent and child collections around how customers search, and use navigation and breadcrumbs so important categories sit close to the homepage.
Product page optimization
Titles, descriptions, image alt text and variant handling written for search, without stuffing keywords into every field of the product editor.
Structured data
Product, Offer, AggregateRating and BreadcrumbList markup in JSON-LD, checked in the Rich Results Test so products are eligible for richer listings.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
We measure LCP, INP and CLS, remove unused app code, defer scripts that can wait and serve properly sized images through the Shopify CDN.
Shopify Markets SEO
For stores selling abroad, we check market subfolders, hreflang output, translated handles and currency settings so each country version can be indexed.

Frequently asked questions
Is Shopify good for SEO?
Yes, Shopify is a solid platform for SEO as long as the store is set up with care. It handles hosting, HTTPS, sitemaps and canonical tags well. The common problems come from themes, apps and content choices, such as duplicate collection paths, thin category pages and heavy scripts, and those are all fixable.
Can you edit our Shopify theme directly?
Yes, theme and Liquid changes are part of the work. We are a Shopify Partner agency and also build Shopify stores, so we make fixes ourselves in a duplicate theme, share a preview link, and publish only after you approve. You do not need a separate developer for SEO changes.
Do you need the owner login for our store?
No, we request collaborator access through the Shopify Partner dashboard instead. You choose exactly which permissions we get and can remove access at any time. For Google Search Console and Google Analytics, we ask you to add us as users on your existing accounts.
How do I get started with Shopify SEO?
Start with our free 120-point SEO audit. We crawl the store, review Search Console data and check the theme, then send a prioritized list of issues with the fixes we would make first. If you want us to carry out the work, we agree a monthly scope from there.
