Shopify agency for Moroccan brands
Shopify stores for Moroccan brands selling at home and abroad: cash on delivery and CMI cards, nationwide shipping and content in Arabic, French and English.
Shopify experts for Morocco brands
Morocco has one of North Africa’s most active eCommerce markets, driven by a young, mobile population and a large community of social sellers. Cash on delivery is still chosen for most orders, though card payments through the CMI network are growing. At the same time, Moroccan craft and beauty products, from argan oil and rugs to ceramics, leather and saffron, are in demand from buyers in Europe, North America and the Gulf.
BOOST STAR Experts builds and grows Shopify stores for Moroccan brands from our team in India. For local sales we set up cash on delivery with confirmation steps, CMI or other local card gateways and courier integrations. For export, we plan a payment route through a gateway or partner that accepts international cards, and set up multilingual content and shipping. Then we focus on SEO, Meta and TikTok campaigns and conversion work.
Selling online in Morocco: what your store needs
Cash on delivery and CMI cards
Cash on delivery remains the default for many Moroccan shoppers, especially for first orders. Card payments go through the CMI interbank network, with gateways such as CMI itself, Payzone and YouCan Pay serving online stores. Cash payment at agents like Cash Plus and Wafacash is also used. Shopify Payments and Stripe do not serve Moroccan businesses.
VAT, data protection and consumer law
The standard VAT rate is 20%, with reduced rates of 7%, 10% and 14% for certain goods. Law 09-08 governs personal data, supervised by the CNDP, and Law 31-08 sets consumer protection rules for distance selling, including clear pricing and return information. Sellers should be properly registered with a tax identifier shown on invoices.
Amana, CTM and last-mile couriers
Amana, the express service of Barid Al-Maghrib, CTM Messagerie and Aramex deliver across the country, alongside many private last-mile couriers that specialise in cash on delivery for eCommerce sellers. Delivery between big cities usually takes one to three days. We set rates by city, connect couriers to Shopify and track returned parcels.
Social sellers, Jumia and export buyers
Instagram, Facebook and TikTok drive discovery, with order confirmation by phone or WhatsApp. Jumia and Avito are well-known marketplaces. Content in Arabic and French covers most local shoppers, while export brands add English and target the Moroccan diaspora in France, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands as well as international buyers of crafts and beauty products.

Frequently asked questions
Can Moroccan customers pay by card on Shopify?
Yes, through local gateways connected to the CMI network, such as CMI, Payzone or YouCan Pay, where an integration with your store is available. We set up the gateway, test it with Moroccan cards and keep cash on delivery available, since many shoppers still prefer it for first orders.
How do we sell argan oil or rugs to customers abroad?
You need a way to accept international payments, often through a gateway or partner company that serves foreign cards and PayPal, plus reliable export shipping. We set up multilingual product pages, international markets with EUR or USD pricing and shipping by express courier or through a fulfilment partner in Europe.
How do you reduce refused cash on delivery parcels?
We add confirmation by phone or WhatsApp before dispatch, block repeat refusers and duplicate orders, and measure refusal rates by city and product. Clear prices, delivery fees and delivery days on the product page also reduce last-minute refusals.
Which languages should a Moroccan store use?
For local shoppers, Arabic and French. Many Moroccan brands also use Darija in social content and ads. Export stores add English, and sometimes Spanish or Dutch for diaspora markets. Shopify Markets handles all of these from one store, with right-to-left layout for Arabic.
How do time zones work during Ramadan?
Morocco moves its clocks back an hour during Ramadan, so the gap with India grows from 4.5 to 5.5 hours. We adjust call times and respect reduced working hours during the month, and plan campaigns such as Ramadan and Eid sales well ahead.
