Shopify agency for South Korean brands going global
Shopify stores for Korean beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands selling to the world, alongside the Naver and Coupang channels that dominate at home.
Shopify experts for South Korea brands
South Korea has one of the most advanced eCommerce markets anywhere. Most domestic shopping runs through Coupang, Naver Shopping and category platforms such as Musinsa for fashion and Olive Young for beauty, with same-day and dawn delivery treated as normal. Domestic stores are usually built on Korean platforms, so Shopify’s main role for Korean brands is as the engine for direct sales to customers outside Korea.
BOOST STAR Experts helps Korean brands build and grow Shopify stores for international buyers, and helps foreign brands understand what Korean customers expect. We set up multi-language and multi-currency storefronts, cross-border shipping with clear customs information, payment options that suit each target market, and SEO and paid social aimed at the global audience that follows K-beauty, K-fashion and Korean culture.
Selling online in South Korea: what your store needs
Payments at home and abroad
Korean shoppers pay mainly with domestic credit cards and easy-pay wallets such as Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Toss Pay and Samsung Pay. Those methods are normally processed by Korean payment gateways rather than global ones. For an international Shopify store, the priority is the methods your overseas customers use, such as cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
VAT, PIPA and e-commerce disclosures
Korea charges 10% VAT. The Personal Information Protection Act is one of the strictest privacy laws in Asia, with detailed consent rules. Online sellers must show business details including their business registration and mail-order sales report numbers, and the E-Commerce Act gives consumers a seven-day withdrawal period for most goods.
Fast couriers and cross-border export
CJ Logistics, Hanjin and Lotte Global Logistics carry most domestic parcels, and Coupang runs its own rapid delivery network. For exports, Korea Post’s EMS and K-Packet services and express couriers such as DHL are widely used. Buyers importing into Korea need a Personal Customs Clearance Code, which foreign stores should ask for at checkout.
Marketplaces and trend speed
Korean consumers move quickly with trends, read detailed reviews and expect polished product pages with long scrolling detail images. Coupang, Naver, Gmarket and 11st dominate general shopping. Overseas customers of Korean brands, meanwhile, often discover products on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, so content and creators drive much of the demand.

Frequently asked questions
Should a Korean brand use Shopify for domestic sales?
Usually Shopify works best as the international store. Domestic sales tend to run through Naver Smart Store, Coupang or a Korean-built site, where local payment wallets and identity checks are standard. We build the global Shopify store and keep product data consistent with your Korean channels.
How do you handle shipping from Korea to overseas customers?
We connect your store to EMS, K-Packet or an express courier, or to a fulfilment partner if you use one, and set rates by destination. Product pages show realistic delivery times, and where possible duties are collected at checkout so overseas customers are not surprised on delivery.
Can you translate our store for the US, Japan and Southeast Asia?
Yes. Shopify Markets lets one store run several languages and currencies with local prices. We work with native-speaking translators for key pages, adapt sizes and ingredient information for each region and set up hreflang so each version ranks in the right country.
How does the time difference work with Korea?
Korea is 3.5 hours ahead of us. Our morning meets your afternoon, which is when we schedule calls, and we keep working after your day ends. Many clients find that changes requested in the afternoon are often ready by the next morning in Seoul.
Can you help K-beauty brands meet rules in other countries?
We are not regulatory consultants, but we build the store features that rules often require, such as full ingredient lists, warnings, country-specific product availability and age gates. Your compliance partner confirms what each market needs, and we make sure the store shows it correctly.
