Shopify experts for Spain brands

Spain gave the world Zara and Mango, and its shoppers have high standards for fashion, footwear and food bought online. Amazon.es and El Corte Inglés set the bar for delivery and returns, while second-hand apps such as Wallapop and Vinted are part of everyday life. Mobile shopping is the norm, and many purchases are discovered on Instagram and TikTok before buyers ever reach a search engine.

BOOST STAR Experts builds and grows Shopify stores for Spanish brands and for international brands entering Spain. We set up Spanish and, where it helps, Catalan storefronts, local payment methods, carriers such as Correos and SEUR, and the legal pages Spanish law requires. After launch we focus on Spanish-language SEO, Google and Meta campaigns and conversion work, with reporting that ties spend to orders.

Selling online in Spain: what your store needs

Cards, Bizum and PayPal

Debit and credit cards remain the main way Spaniards pay online, and Shopify Payments is available for Spanish stores. Bizum, the bank-backed mobile payment app, is increasingly offered at checkout through Spanish bank gateways and third-party apps. PayPal is trusted for first purchases, and buy-now-pay-later from Klarna or Aplazame helps on fashion and electronics.

IVA, the Canaries and Spanish legal pages

Most goods carry 21% IVA, with reduced rates of 10% and 4% for items such as certain foods and books. The Canary Islands sit outside the EU VAT area and use their own IGIC tax, so shipping there needs separate rules. Spanish stores also publish an aviso legal with company details under the LSSI law.

Correos, SEUR and pickup points

Correos and Correos Express cover the whole country, while SEUR, MRW, GLS and Nacex handle much of the courier market. Shoppers like collecting from pickup points and lockers, especially in flats with no concierge. Delivery to the Balearics and Canaries costs more and takes longer, so we show island rates clearly before checkout.

Social discovery and regional languages

Spanish shoppers spend heavily on mobile and discover brands through Instagram, TikTok and creators. Castilian Spanish is essential, while Catalan content can lift trust in Catalonia and the Balearics. Sales periods matter: the January and July rebajas, Black Friday and the run-up to Reyes on 6 January, when many families exchange gifts.

Frequently asked questions

Can Spanish shoppers pay with Bizum on Shopify?

Yes, through a payment provider or app that supports it, usually linked to a Spanish bank gateway. We check which option works with your bank, install and test it, and place Bizum alongside cards, Apple Pay and PayPal so shoppers who prefer paying from their banking app can do so without friction.

How do you handle orders to the Canary Islands?

The Canaries use IGIC rather than IVA, and parcels pass through customs, so we create a separate shipping zone with its own rates, tax settings and delivery estimates. Customers see clearly what they will pay before checkout, which cuts abandoned carts and surprise charges on delivery.

Should our store be in Catalan as well as Spanish?

If you sell mostly in Catalonia or the Balearics, a Catalan version can help with trust and local search. Shopify Markets and translation apps let you run Spanish, Catalan and English on one store, with hreflang tags so each language appears to the right audience in Google.

How does a team in India work with Spanish office hours?

We overlap with your morning, which is our afternoon, so calls happen before the Spanish lunch break. Progress notes arrive before you finish for the day, and for launches or big sales such as Black Friday we agree in advance who is on hand during your evening peak.

Can you connect our Shopify store to Amazon.es or El Corte Inglés?

We can connect Shopify to Amazon.es through Amazon’s own app or a multichannel tool so stock and orders stay in sync. Marketplace programmes such as El Corte Inglés have their own approval and integration processes, so we review their requirements with you first.
