eCommerce Marketing: what it covers

Online retail marketing lives and dies on the product catalogue. Every shopping ad, dynamic retargeting ad and marketplace listing pulls from the same product data, so titles, images, prices and stock status shape results before any bid is set. We start with that data, whether your store runs on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento or a custom build, and then decide which products deserve paid visibility based on what they actually earn after costs.

Revenue alone is a poor guide for a retailer. A campaign can look healthy while it pushes low-margin lines, discounted stock or single-item baskets. We group products by margin and role, raise average order value with bundles and thresholds, and plan budgets around your trading calendar so peak weeks are prepared months ahead rather than improvised in November.

We also help you weigh marketplaces against your own store. Large marketplaces bring ready demand but take fees and keep most of the customer data, while your own site keeps the relationship and the repeat orders. Our plans make that trade-off explicit, range by range, so paid campaigns support the channel that serves each product best.

  • Product feed audit and optimisation
  • Google Shopping and Performance Max campaigns
  • Microsoft Advertising shopping campaigns
  • Dynamic catalogue ads on Meta
  • Margin-based product grouping
  • Average order value tactics: bundles, thresholds
  • Seasonal and promotional calendar planning
  • Out-of-stock and price-change feed rules
  • Cart and browse abandonment retargeting
  • Marketplace versus own-store channel review
  • GA4 eCommerce event tracking
  • Weekly written report against profit goals

The challenges we solve

Ads that sell the wrong products

Shopping campaigns left to themselves tend to favour cheap, popular items that win clicks but leave little margin. Without margin data in the feed or in the campaign structure, spend drifts towards products that grow revenue while profit stays flat or falls, and nobody notices until the quarter closes.

Peak season that arrives unprepared

Black Friday, Christmas, summer sales and local holidays compress a large share of yearly demand into a few weeks. Click costs rise, creative fatigues quickly and stock runs out. Retailers who begin planning a fortnight before the peak usually pay more for the same customers than those who built audiences and tested offers earlier.

Marketplaces eating own-store sales

Marketplace listings can bring volume, but fees, price matching and lost customer data erode the value of each order. When ads, marketplace listings and the own store all compete for the same search, a retailer can end up paying twice for one buyer while owning none of the relationship.

Our eCommerce services

Feed management

We clean and enrich product titles, attributes, GTINs and images, add custom labels for margin and seasonality, and set rules so price and stock changes reach Merchant Center quickly.

Shopping and Performance Max

We structure Shopping and Performance Max campaigns by product role, separating best sellers, new lines and clearance stock so each gets a budget and target that matches what it earns.

Catalogue retargeting

Dynamic ads on Google and Meta show visitors the products they viewed plus related items, with exclusions for recent buyers and frequency limits that stop repeat ads becoming irritating.

Margin and AOV planning

We map gross margin, shipping cost and return rates per category, then test bundles, free-shipping thresholds and cross-sells that lift basket value without relying on blanket discounts.

Seasonal peak playbooks

For each key trading period we plan audiences, creative, offers and budget pacing in advance, then review stock levels and pacing with you daily while the peak is running.

Marketplace and channel strategy

We review which products belong on marketplaces and which should stay exclusive to your store, and stop paid search and marketplace listings bidding against each other for the same shopper.

Profit-focused reporting

Reports show contribution after ad spend by category, not just revenue, so decisions on budget and product focus rest on what actually reaches your bank account.

How we work

Business & Market Discovery

We learn how your business makes money: your products, margins, customers, competitors, target markets and revenue goals, so every later decision is anchored to commercial reality rather than platform metrics.

Marketing Audit & Research

We review existing campaigns, tracking setup, audience data, ad account history, creative performance and how well your website converts, to find wasted spend, missing data and quick opportunities.

Strategy & Campaign Planning

We choose the right channels, allocate budget between them, and plan campaign structure, target audiences, creative direction and the conversion goals each campaign will be measured against.

Campaign Setup & Launch

We configure campaigns, conversion tracking, landing pages, creatives, audiences and conversion events, then check everything fires correctly before launch so data is reliable from the first day.

Testing & Optimisation

We run structured tests on audiences, keywords, creatives, bidding strategies, landing pages and budget splits, keeping what works and retiring what does not, one clear change at a time.

Reporting & Scaling

We analyse results, highlight new opportunities and report in plain language. When the data is reliable and returns hold up, we scale budgets and expand into new channels, products or markets.

Frequently asked questions

Do you only work with Shopify stores?

No, our eCommerce marketing works on any platform, including WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento and custom builds. The ad channels and feed principles are the same everywhere. Shopify is our specialism, so Shopify stores also get the platform-specific help described on our Shopify marketing page, but feeds and tracking can be set up for other platforms too.

How do you decide which products to advertise?

We advertise the products that can carry the cost of winning a customer. That means looking at margin, price, stock depth, return rates and search demand together. High-margin lines with steady stock usually lead, while low-margin items play supporting roles or are excluded unless they bring in customers who buy again.

How early should we plan for Black Friday and Christmas?

Start planning two to three months before the peak. Audience building, creative testing and offer decisions all need time, and reviews of new promotions in Merchant Center can take a while. During the run-up we warm audiences and settle creative, so the peak weeks are about scaling what already works rather than testing.

Should we sell on marketplaces as well as our own store?

It depends on your margins and how much you value owning customer data. Marketplaces suit products with strong demand on those sites and margins that survive the fees. Your own store suits products where repeat purchase and brand matter. We help you split the range and keep paid campaigns from competing with your own listings.

How do you measure success for an online store?

We measure success by profit after ad spend, new customer volume and average order value, alongside platform ROAS. Revenue in ad dashboards is often overstated because several platforms claim the same sale, so we compare against your store's own order data and GA4 before moving budget.

What budget do we need for eCommerce advertising?

Your budget should follow from your margins, average order value and order targets, not from a fixed figure. We work out the cost per order you can afford, estimate the traffic needed to reach your order goal, and start with enough budget for campaigns to gather useful data before scaling.
