Shopify development for Canadian brands
Custom Shopify and Shopify Plus builds for Canadian merchants, with English and French storefronts, provincial tax logic and a US market ready when you are.
Shopify Development for Canada brands
A Canadian Shopify build often has to work as two or three stores in one. There is the English storefront, a French version for Quebec that has to be just as complete, and frequently a US market with its own currency, shipping rules and duties. Behind that sits tax logic that changes by province and, for many brands, an accounting or inventory system that needs clean data from every channel.
BOOST STAR Experts provides Shopify developers to Canadian brands from our remote team in India. We build custom themes and sections, configure Shopify Markets for Canada and the US, connect accounting, inventory and fulfilment systems, and write custom apps where needed. Developers work through your evening and night, so updates are usually on the staging store by the start of your next day.

What shopify development in Canada needs
Bilingual storefronts that stay in sync
Quebec’s Bill 96 strengthened the rule that French must be at least as available as English, including on product pages and checkout. We build themes where every section, metafield and notification has a French translation, and set up a workflow so new products cannot go live in English only.
Provincial tax and duty logic
Getting tax right in Canada means handling GST, HST, PST and QST correctly for each province, plus exemptions such as children’s clothing in some provinces. We configure Shopify tax overrides by collection and test checkout with addresses from each province. For US orders, we set up duties and import taxes at checkout where supported.
AODA and accessible code
Ontario’s accessibility law, the AODA, requires many organisations with 50 or more employees to meet WCAG 2.0 AA on their public websites. Even if it does not apply to you yet, accessible code reaches more shoppers. We build with proper headings, keyboard navigation, labelled forms and contrast that passes automated and manual checks.
Accounting, inventory and cross-border fulfilment
Canadian merchants often use QuickBooks Online or Xero, sometimes with an inventory tool such as Cin7 or Katana for manufacturing brands. We connect these, and integrate 3PLs that hold stock on both sides of the border so US orders can ship domestically instead of crossing customs one parcel at a time.

Frequently asked questions
Can one Shopify store serve both Canada and the US?
Yes. Shopify Markets lets one store sell in Canadian and US dollars, with separate prices, shipping rules and domains or subfolders for each country. For larger brands with very different catalogues or teams, a separate expansion store can make more sense. We compare both options against your operations before building.
How do you handle French translations during development?
We make every piece of theme text translatable, then load French content through Shopify’s Translate & Adapt app or a translation app such as Weglot or Langify. Machine translation can produce a first draft, but we recommend a native Quebec French reviewer for product copy, legal pages and checkout before launch.
Can you migrate our Canadian store to Shopify?
Yes. We migrate products, customers, orders and content from WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce and other platforms, keep French and English URLs mapped with 301 redirects, and recreate tax settings for each province. A staging store lets you test both languages before switching the domain.
How do you schedule development work around Canadian time zones?
We hold check-in calls in your morning, which is our evening, and do most coding overnight on your clock. Toronto and Montreal clients get the widest live window. Each update arrives with a preview link and notes, so you can review at your own pace and reply on the shared board.
